AmandaAction (25K)AMANDA TUOHY: To Dance is to set the heart and soul free to ease the spirit...to explore the world. Since the beginning of time, from the moment of birth, humans have felt and created rhythm and danced within musical communities."
Amanda Tuohy comes from a family line of European dancers. After her mother settled in America from Britain, she began a serious ballet school in Indiana that followed the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabatic model. Amanda trained in this facility as well as at Joseph Holmes, Ruth Page, and Lou Conte. Amanda discovered a love of modern dance that inspired her early college career at Columbia College of Chicago.

Through the years, Amanda has presented choreography, mentored pre-professional students, guest-taught at workshops, danced on tour in Mexico and throughout Europe and performed improvisation and in numerous classical and contemporary ballets. Ballets performances include: Firebird, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Copula, Gaite Pariesienne, Sleeping Beauty and Thumbalina. (Odile and Firebird are her favorite roles.)

Producing and directing as well as presenting choreography in jazz and modern concerts led her to create her own long-standing concerts "Kaleidoscope" and "Standing Room Only" with the Indiana Ballet Theater and modern ensemble. Jazz, tap and modern are Amanda's favorite forms of dance besides pas de deux and ballet. Amanda now also happily majors in Psychology at Purdue University and raises three wonderful children alongside her husband, Ian.
