Perceptual Motion is sensitive to the many demands on teachers. We strive to make every minute count to create the "AHA!" moments of discovery so crucial to retention of ideas and concepts. We balance the teaching of specific skills with development of the ability to creatively solve problems in an effort to help teachers and students reach their full potential. Perceptual Motion offers custom designed teacher in services, special projects, lecture demonstrations and dance residencies. PERCEPTUAL MOTION:
Conducts custom designed dance residencies throughout Illinois to address the art form of dance. Inspires and trains teachers to utilize movement in their classrooms as a teaching tool.  Modeling lessons, team planning and teaching, observation and discussion are a few of the methods we use. Writes curriculum integrated lesson plans. Conducts teacher in-services that help teachers make valuable and authentic connections in the classroom. Acts as a resource for teachers, to help them develop activities and lesson plans to fit their teaching style. Collaborates with Phys. Ed teachers to enhance existing dance units and to find additional ways they can use dance in their curricula. (Basketball, football, etc. use the same skills as dance: jumps, spatial placement, body awareness, flexibility, executing patterns of movement, teamwork, etc.) Consults with teachers to demystify and address how they can fulfill the State Fine Arts Goals in their classrooms. Conducts Family Dance nights where parents and children share the joy of dance by learning new dances or working together to create their own dances.
